Onside · Proposal for Bayou City Angler
Camera coverage · Phase 2 extension

Eyes on the lot.
Plates at the gate.

Adding outdoor camera coverage to the UniFi system Onside installed earlier this year. The existing interior cameras, AI Turrets, AI 360s, and U7 Pro Max access point all stay — these new cameras adopt into the same controller. Three options below; recommended path is in the middle.

Site

BCA's footprint. Two zones to cover.

The building at 8933 Katy Frwy is a 312 ft multi-tenant strip — BCA occupies the south end with ~141 ft of east-facing frontage; the rest of the building runs north and houses other tenants (Carter's Country, Bluegrass Steak House, others). Mounts stay entirely on BCA's tenant footprint — both east-facing corners of BCA, plus the SW back-side wrap. The Gaylord Dr entry is the chokepoint that matters for BCA.

Coverage objectives

  • Zone A — BCA east frontage. Customer parking on the east side, the BCA storefront entry awning at the north end of BCA's east face, and the drive aisles that feed the parking lot from Gaylord Dr (south) and the I-10 frontage road (north).
  • Zone B — Back & west wrap. The west-side parking and south-end approach: deliveries, after-hours, lower-traffic side.
  • License-plate readability along the central drive aisle — vehicle ID as cars enter the lot from either direction (Gaylord south or I-10 frontage north). Both directions matter; both get covered.

Strategy

Wide arcs front and back. Dual LPR on the drive aisle.

Three UVC-G6-180 cameras on BCA's tenant footprint cover the parking field — two on the east soffit at BCA's corners (front), one on the west face mid-span (back). Each one's 180° arc looks outward, so frontage and back-side both get redundant wide coverage. Then two dedicated telephoto cameras mounted at opposite ends of BCA — one aimed north, one aimed south — capture license plates from both directions of approach as vehicles drive past. Every car that enters from either entry gets plate-readable framing.

1

BCA SE corner — front south

UVC-G6-180 · 16MP dual-sensor · 180° H

South-east corner of BCA's footprint. 180° arc covers the south end of the frontage parking + the Gaylord Dr entry approach. Soffit-mounted, fed from interior.

2

BCA NE corner — front north + entry

UVC-G6-180 · 16MP dual-sensor · 180° H

BCA's east soffit at the north tenant boundary — right above the storefront entry awning. Arc covers the north half of BCA's 141 ft frontage, the entry approach, and overlaps with camera 1 in the middle of the lot.

3

West face mid — back

UVC-G6-180 · 16MP dual-sensor · 180° H

Mid-span of BCA's west face, looking out over the back parking. The 180° arc covers Zone B end-to-end — better dedicated detail for the back/side than a corner mount would deliver.

4

South-end LPR — facing north

UVC-G5 Pro · 4K · 8.7–29mm varifocal · IR

Mounted at BCA's south end, aimed north up the parking aisle. Captures plates of vehicles entering from the I-10 frontage road as they drive south toward BCA. The ~100 ft drive aisle length sits inside G5 Pro's purpose-built LPR range.

5

North-end LPR — facing south

UVC-G5 Pro · 4K · 8.7–29mm varifocal · IR

Mounted at BCA's north tenant boundary, aimed south down the parking aisle. Captures plates of vehicles entering from Gaylord Dr as they drive north into the lot. Pairs with camera 4 to cover both directions of approach.

6

Upstairs interior

UVC-G5-Flex · 4MP · IR night vision

Compact indoor camera for the upstairs space. IR night vision for after-hours coverage. PoE-powered, adopts into the existing controller alongside the other interior cameras.

Options

Three packages. Pick a tier.

Every option extends the UniFi system Onside installed earlier this year — interior cameras, AI Turrets, AI 360s, U7 Pro Max access point, controller, PoE switch. The new cameras adopt into the same controller and show up alongside the existing ones in one app. If we need to add PoE capacity for the new cameras, it's called out as a contingency line — not buried.

Option A

Wide coverage, no LPR

$3,621
All-in · hardware, install, config
  • 2× UVC-G6-180 on the east soffit (SE corner + NE corner of BCA)
  • 1× UVC-G6-180 on the west face mid — dedicated back-parking coverage
  • 1× UVC-G5-Flex upstairs (IR night vision)
  • Full Zone A + Zone B wide-angle coverage
  • No license-plate readability — plates won't be legible from these arcs at 100 ft
Best for Eyes-on for activity, motion alerts, and after-the-fact "who was around." Cheapest path if LPR isn't a priority right now — can always add G5 Pros later as a Phase 3.
Option C

Maximum outside coverage

$6,727
All-in · hardware, install, config
  • Everything in Option B (3× G6-180 + 2× G5 Pro + Flex)
  • + 2× UVC-G6 Turret under the BCA entry awning (north end of east face)
  • Captures customer faces at the door — anti-shoplifting, dispute resolution, customer ID
  • Covers walk-up traffic the wide-angle parking cameras only catch peripherally
Best for A premium retail posture. Vehicle ID along the drive aisle plus face-grade detail at the storefront door — the camera setup most BCA-class shops wish they had after an incident.

All prices are single all-in numbers — hardware, shipping, sales tax on materials, supporting parts (Cat6, mounts, surge protectors, terminations), and installation labor at $135/hr (current Gulf Coast commercial rate for UniFi specialty work). No surprise tax line at the end. Existing PoE switch has open capacity for the Phase 2 cameras.

Process

How install day actually goes.

01

Walk & mark

Confirm mount points, verify PoE capacity on existing switch, mark cable runs.

02

Pull & mount

Cable from interior IDF to each mount, drill from inside out, fit cameras and weatherproof.

03

Adopt & aim

Cameras adopted into the existing UniFi controller. Each one aimed for its coverage role. LPR cone dialed in at the entry.

04

Walkthrough

Live view together. Motion zones set. You leave with a working system, not a punch list.

Estimated on-site time: 2 days. Quiet hours preferred to keep customers undisturbed; we can split across early mornings or after close depending on shop hours.

About

Onside builds and runs operations.

Custom applications, automation, networking and physical infrastructure — and we keep running it after launch. Gulf Coast Texas, with proof points across insurance, charters, property services, and retail.

The UniFi system at BCA was installed by Onside in 2025 — interior cameras, AI Turrets, AI 360s, U7 Pro Max access point, controller, and switching. This proposal extends that footprint outward without rip-and-replace. Every new camera adopts into the controller you already have; one app, one system.
